When we talk about the “Nuts and Bolts” of something, we are referring to the underlying causes, or a problem at its most basic level. In the context of therapy, we believe that lasting change comes from addressing the root causes of distress. We aim to provide mental health support through simple-to-understand language and targeted strategies that make sense in the context of an individual’s life. Seeking help can be intimidating and it is our mission to make psychological counseling as accessible, comfortable, and productive as possible.
Nuts and Bolts psychology emerged from a passion for helping individuals facing distress or challenges in their lives, particularly recognising the barriers to accessing mental health support. This is especially relevant for men who may feel uncomfortable with the concept of therapy. Our goal is to provide accessible, non-judgmental, and tailored therapy that is flexible in delivery for anyone seeking help. While we focus on men’s mental health, we are dedicated to supporting anyone aged 16 and up. Chris has specific experience in addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, grief and loss, personality disorders, and challenges associated with life changes like parenthood, job loss, or age-related transitions.

Chris has been a registered Psychologist since 2020, achieving full registration with AHPRA during the first COVID lockdown. Practicing as a psychologist during this time helped him attune to the critical need for healthy perspectives, communication, and, therefore, relationships to protect good mental and emotional health. He is passionate about supporting men's mental health by helping individuals achieve deeper knowledge of self, improved coping and resilience skills, by applying practical problem-solving strategies, and optimizing interpersonal communication that is truly fair to all parties. While Nuts and Bolts Psychology focuses on individuals aged 16 and above, Chris has extensive experience working across the lifespan and with a broad range of presenting concerns. He brings warmth, care, authenticity, and humour to his sessions, with a strong focus on addressing the primary concerns of his clients. Chris is available for face-to-face appointments in his clinic rooms or via telehealth.
